Chest x-rayMy first stop today was at the oncologist’s office. I was really nervous because I knew he had the results of my PET scan. When he finally came into the room, he said my tumor was gone! There are still some abnormal cells floating around in there, which the oncologist said was to be expected at this point, so I have to finish my last three sessions of chemo. I’ll be going there for the next three days, then again in November and December.

I went from the oncologist’s office to the GI doctor’s office to talk about my TPN. He seems to believe my nausea and vomiting are related to my chemo; the rest of my doctors think they’re related to the radiation therapy. I’m inclined to agree with the other docs since I didn’t start vomiting until after they inserted the g-tube. The GI doctor’s plan is to wait about three weeks then try to put me back on tube feeding for awhile. My plan is to eat Thanksgiving dinner in a few weeks without a feeding tube. I’m going to wait another week and then start experimenting.

As soon as I can speak clearly again (my voice is barely more than a whisper) and get off the pain pills from the radiation, I’m going to try to go back to work. I’m so ready to get off the couch!

  3. Amazing news, Julie! The next three chemo treatments will seem a bit easier knowing the tumor is gone and this is just to eradicate the few remaining cancerous cells! Great News, my friend! I am very happy for you!!!

  4. That’s fantastic news, Julie. I’m still praying for you and hope the rest of the chemo goes better. Being a nurse helps you know more about what you can do without causing problems.

  5. I said this morning the tumor would be gone… Glad I am right. As far as eating again when you start you have to take it very slow or you will make yourself sick. So eat and enjoy Thanksgiving but eat very little. (But you know all this) Love you and glad you are almost done with all this.

  6. HALLELUJAH !!!!!!
