Lung Cancer RibbonI went to my old oncologist today to get the results of my PET scan. He said the scan showed no signs of cancer! I’m not out of the woods yet because there’s a high rate of recurrence for this type of cancer, but as of now, I’m cancer-free. I have a follow-up appointment scheduled for next month with my new oncologist.

In the meantime, it’s way past time for me to get back to normal. I’m still struggling with getting the speech therapist to come out. Since I went to the hospital last week, they had to readmit me into their system and they say they’re waiting for prior authorization from the insurance company. The insurance company says they’ve already authorized it. My case manager was supposed to call the speech therapist yesterday and see if she could get the ball rolling. I’m still waiting to hear back.

I made an appointment for next Thursday to see the ENT about my cough. The new oncologist thinks it’s related to the radiation therapy, in which case there’s nothing they can do about it right now except to continue to prescribe a cough suppressant. Hopefully, it will go away on its own soon.

I’m still having a little bit of throat pain, which I’m hoping won’t cause too much of a problem when I do try to eat.

Since I’m finally starting to feel a little stronger, I’m going to try to go back to work part time next week.

Thanks again to those who have helped me with my medical fund. If you’d like to contribute, go to https://www.youcaring.com/julie-mears-henry-495041.

  1. I’m always pleased to get your updates. Sounds like there is no way to get all the chickens in the same box so you can discover what to do. Keep plowing. You might ask the ENT is you could have a mild infection that is causing the cough. No other suggestions. Love, Dad
